Dear Prospective Employer,
My business's name is Rainbow Writing, Inc. and it is located in the Seattle area of Washington State. I am 48 years old, married and have a delightful teenage daughter who wants to pursue a career in writing and theater.
I have been involved in the writing, editing and art design fields since well before 1980. My published writing credits include local and national newspapers, print and Internet magazines, and fiction and non-fiction short stories, novellas, novels and books. I also have copy edited and ghost written fiction and non-fiction manuscripts for several aspiring, technical and academic authors - most of whom have been published - and have written ad copy, business letters, sales letters, and proposals for e-books and various Internet-based companies and organizations. These are among my finest completed projects, and I have multitudinous life experiences to work from for you as well.
I frequently send out writing and art work to members of our growing and talented outsource team, which consists of about three dozen writing/artistic people with many decades of writing and art experience. I am an occasional outsource writer for "The Floating Gallery" of Madison Ave., New York City and a staff associate editor for "Literary Magic" online literary arts magazine, as well as a frequent contributor and award winning writer at Poetry.com. I have copy edited multiple websites and am continuously writing text copy for websites and business documents. And I spend plenty of time creating and maintaining both low- and high-end business and personal websites.
My latest humorous fiction novel "The Rainbow Horizon" is being prepared for printing, publishing, and distribution. It will be fully distributed in the USA and world-wide by late in 2006. Being published in soft cover and hard cover, it will be available at most bookstores for instant printing, and fully downloadable in PDF format over the Internet. Plans are being potentially formed to make it into a major or "indie" motion picture.
My primary education comes from 1978-80 at Ohio University and four other higher institutions of learning, where I put together my own version of a self-determined bachelor's degree in journalism, fine arts and creative writing. I have also attended three other institutions of higher learning and taken many arts field-related classes. I recently taught a one-day workshop in mass communications, and I'm always in the process of continuing my education. Recently I took a training course in high-end sales letter writing for multi-national corporations.
When it truly comes down to computers, writing, editing, and the fine and commercial arts, I feel I am largely self-taught and that my greatest learning will always be through my own individual efforts. However, I have recently taken classes in team dynamics and project management, and now I feel fully capable of handling the basics of project integration and group cooperation. I have plenty of knowledge or access to it regarding software, hardware and “just hacking around,” could always stand to learn more about anything, and retain ample knowledge regarding the realities of being a cooperative and supportive team player.
